Boom contains a variety of herbal extracts plus chocolate flavoring; the product comes in powder form, and is supposed to be dumped directly into the mouth, followed by a splash of “beverage of choice.”

The proprietary Chinese herbal blend includes: Yohimbe, extracted from the bark of the African tree, used to increase blood flow to the extremities; the amino acid L-Arginine for increasing nitric oxide levels; Deer Antler, which may improve circulation; Panax Ginseng for an energy lift; and astragalus to support the immune system.

Additional Chinese herbs are included to support the organs and cell functions. Cordyceps Sinensis supports the kidney, Ganoderma Lucidum has anti-inflammatory properties, Angelica Sinensis is often used to treat symptoms of blood deficiency by stimulating blood flow and strengthening the blood; Paeonia lactiflora is traditionally used as a pain reliever. Polygonatum Sibiricum Red has antibacterial properties; Atractylodes Macrocephala may help boost energy and Poria Cocos has been used to treat sleep disorders.

Let’s focus on the most active ingredients that are also the most widely used.

Yohimbe, as stated, is a tree native to Africa. The bark extract is a popular ingredient in dietary supplements for male enhancement and for weight loss because it helps increase blood flow, aiding in a stronger erection, and also increases stamina.

L-Arginine may act as a precursor to nitric oxide, which allows more blood to flow to flow to the penis to get an erection. It is often included in male enhancement formulas.

We appreciate that this product claims to be beneficial to use regularly, although since the product is sold in 5-packs, that could get expensive. And while it appears to have elements that may boost the libido and increase stamina and blood flow, it is missing a key element of male health – supporting the male hormone testosterone.

Higher testosterone levels are related to enhanced sex drive, endurance, fertility and muscle tone - testosterone is a necessary part of sexual function in males. Herbal supplements containing the popular Bulgarian herb Tribulus Terrestris help to increase testosterone levels, and have been clinically proven to be effective.

A product that contains both Tribulus and Epimedium may be a more supportive way to enhance sexual function in the long term.
