TrimSpa contains the following ingredients: Chromium, Vanadium, Glucomannan, Citrus Narginin , Glucosamine HCL , Cocoa Extract ,Tyramine and Green Tea Extract.

TrimSpa’s formula is rather benign, as it appears to lack many of the more effective weight loss agents. However, it does contain Hoodia Gordonii, which has been shown to be able to cut hunger due to its ability to mimic glucose in the blood stream, which coaxes the brain into shutting hunger off. Unfortunately, with the scarcity and demand for Hoodia, there are now a lot of inferior Hoodia extracts on the market, so its important to check out the quality and quantity used in weight loss formulas. TrimSpa’s developers never fully addressed this issue in their advertising, and they did not provide documentation to confirm that they use the best Hoodia possible. Also, it seems that its other ingredients are simply low-level thermogenic agents like Green Tea and Cocoa Extract—both of which may help users augment their metabolism a bit, but neither of which are as effective as modern fat burners like Yerba Mate and Advantra Z.

Preceding Anna Nicole Smith’s death, Goen Technologies, the developer of TrimSpa, agreed to pay $1.5 million to settle allegations of false and misleading advertising to the Federal Trade Commission. This may stem from the fact that when TrimSpa first came onto the holistic market its formula was very different than it is today—it contained effective fat burners like Ephedra and its cousin Bitter Orange, so its claims may have been spot on.

But when Ephedra was removed from the market due to dangerous side effects, they significantly downgraded and diluted their formula. Bitter Orange was also removed, even though it has Ephedra’s thermogenic abilities, but without its side effects. Other developers actually used Bitter Orange in its more effective and safest form, Advantra Z, to make up for the deletion of Ephedra; however, TrimSpa simply eliminated it.

Some consumers may still be able to find TrimSpa on some retailer and auction based websites, but its new incarnation uses a formula that is rather light weight, which will not provide the types of weight loss gains most people are looking for. This issue may be why they have faced heavy fines in the past by the FDA for making false claims about TrimSpa’s abilities. Given its formula, we are not surprised by this development, nor are we surprised that they have gone bankrupt and are selling the company off piece by piece. Consumers may want to be careful when ordering this product from auction sites and other sources, as it still seems to be overpriced given its formula, and making returns may be hard, if not impossible.
