Vitro contains the herb Butea Superba.

Butea Superba is a plant found in Thailand that has traditionally been used by older men for sexual enhancement. It has also been marketed in creams that promise to increase breast size, but there is no evidence of its effectiveness for this purpose. Although there is little Western research available on Butea, some scientists believe that it is linked to acetylcholine production. Acetylcholine is a chemical compound and neurotransmitter that is known to be involved with erectile function and memory. Some products also claim that Butea Superba relaxes the soft muscle tissue of the penis, allowing for increased blood flow to the area. But again, clinical evidence is limited.

Vitro Butea Gel is designed to be massaged into the penis each morning and evening. Presumably, this action allows the herbs to be absorbed through the skin and into the blood vessels, causing them to dilate. According the product’s description, this allows for improved erectile function, including stronger erections and increased stamina.

Early treatments for erectile dysfunction also came in the form of gels or creams, but these were mostly injected or inserted directly into the penis. Once oral treatments became widely available, creams and gels waned in popularity, for obvious reasons. Just as there is little evidence on Butea Superba’s effectiveness as an herbal treatment for erectile dysfunction, there is also limited information on whether topical gels function adequately as a delivery method.

Fortunately, men who are interested in trying an herbal supplement have a number of excellent options, and oral treatments have been shown to have few, if any, side effects. Quite a few studies have been performed on the African herb Yohimbe, and it continues to be favorably recognized by the FDA for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Most high-quality products offer an abundance of information on the herbs that make up their blend, and even cite specific studies that verify their claims.
